UCLA Health Storekeeper in Los Angeles, California


In this position, you will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing food and supplies in a safe and sanitary manner. You will provide immediate and appropriate storage and refrigeration at approved

temperatures and conditions to ensure retention and safe shelf life on all

products. Organize and rotate all

food and non-food items in storage areas (storerooms, freezers, and

refrigerators) using the FIFO procedure. Issue all items

requisitioned by the various units accordingly. Additionally, you will maintain and clean all storage areas including freezers and assigned refrigerator; you will also maintain storeroom for paper goods, cleaning supplies, and food supplies, separately.



  • Knowledge of JC, Health Department, and CMS rules and procedures of sanitation and safety as applied to kitchens, food storage and supplies

  • Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to communicate effectively with vendors, ordering units, and management

  • Skill in using flat carts, 2-wheel dollies, and scales

  • Skill in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers without a calculator to fill orders, take physical counts of inventories, and verify quantities listed on invoices were received

  • Skill in using Basic English words and phrases to make corrections on receiving documents and requisitions, and reporting and recording vendor shortages or discrepancies

  • Ability to read food and refrigeration thermometers to verify appropriate food and storage temperatures

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and numerous ordering units and vendors

  • Ability to frequently lift 75 pounds, push or pull a cart with 1500 pound load, bend to reach items stored on low shelves, reach for items stored above shoulder level, and climb a ladder to store, rotate and issue food supplies

  • Ability to work in an environment with extreme variations of temperature with appropriate protective clothing

  • Skill in working independently and identifying potentially more effective methods of work operation

  • Must possess good time management skills in order to deliver supplies in a timely and consistent manner
