UCLA Health Staff Research Associate II in Los Angeles, California
Description
The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a motivated Staff Research Associate II to join our team studying the mechanisms by which the autonomic nervous system initiates and maintains arrhythmias, with a particular focus on the role of the cardiac nervous system in heart disease. This position involves collecting and analyzing electrophysiologic and neural data from human patients and animal models of cardiovascular disease. In humans, data is gathered using an array of electrodes and catheters for cardiac electrophysiologic recordings, as well as neural recordings. In animal models, the work includes surgical procedures, recording hemodynamic and electrical activities, and analyzing tissue samples for chemical and protein content. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensuring compliance with inspections, and coordinating research activities with other departments. The role requires active involvement in the analysis of data from both preclinical and clinical settings.
Hourly range: $28.88-$46.46
Qualifications
Required:
Skills to perform technical procedures in a timely and accurate manner
Demonstrated ability to work well with others
Ability to work on routine assignments with minimal supervisors
BS degree in biochemistry, physiology, biology or equivalent
Demostrated ability to keep accurate records
Skills in large animal handling and sugical procedures
Skills in preparing buffers, solutions and reagents
Skills in basic computer use, Microsoft excel, office, powerpoint
Skill to perform sugical procedures in a lab setting on animals-porcine
Preferred:
- Previous experience as Vet tech
