Surfline\Wavetrak, Inc. Staff Product Manager in Los Angeles, California

Summary:

We’re seeking an experienced Staff Product Manager to help drive the evolution of the core Surfline user experience across all of our platforms and subscription tiers. This role will lead a cross-functional group of engineers, designers, data scientists, and forecasters to develop new and innovative ways to connect surfers and ocean lovers to their passion.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated with a blend of hands-on business, design and technical experience. They’ve been known to go the extra mile and have a proven ability to do whatever it takes to get things done. They have incredible attention to detail and have an unwavering passion to deliver exceptional products for our users. They also have an interest in forecast technology and-or ocean-going activities, especially surfing.

Under Surfline’s “Work from Anywhere” policy, this position may be performed on a full-time remote basis from California or a variety of locations in the US.

What You'll Do:

  • Be the primary driver for identifying significant opportunities, and driving product vision, strategies, and roadmaps in the context of forecast strategies and goals.

  • Lead and motivate a team of engineers and other cross-functional representatives, and maintain team health.

  • Understand Surfline’s strategic and competitive position and deliver products that are aligned with our mission and are recognized as best in the industry.

  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm.

  • Help turbocharge a rigorous data culture using quantitative and qualitative measures that tie to company objectives.

  • Display strong leadership, organizational, and execution skills.

  • Incorporate data, research, and market analysis to inform product strategies and roadmaps.

    What We're Looking For:

  • You’re a creative product thinker who loves collaborating across the company with engineering, analytics, marketing, design, and sales.

  • You do whatever it takes to make your product and team successful, whether writing a QA plan or hunting down the root cause of a user’s frustration.

  • A knack for system thinking and an understanding of how to build platform products that empower others to build amazing experiences.

  • Product experience: 6+ years of PM experience.

  • Leadership: You’ve mentored product managers, engineers, and designers in how to work together to build great products.

  • Mobile expertise: You’ve overseen or built mobile experiences from scratch and know the ins and outs of building world-class products on iOS and Android.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit: Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, deals well with ambiguity, and focuses on driving impact.

  • Analytical horsepower: Demonstrated aptitude for digging deep into the data, thinking from first principles, and delivering the best results.

  • Team-first: You bring a team-first mentality and a knack for working well with a wide range of people.

  • Crisp communicator: High attention to detail including precise and effective communications, including with external customers/partners.

  • Results-oriented: You enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects.

    You May Also Have:

  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, SQL-Redshift, Segment, Amplitude, Braze, Wordpress, Zendesk and Stripe.

  • Passion for ocean-going activities, ideally surfing.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    The base salary range for this position is: $140,000 - $170,000. In accordance with applicable state laws, the range provided is Surfline's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.
