About the role

As a CBRE Counsel Sr., you will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance services for a variety of overly complex and confidential legal activities. This job is part of the Legal Services job function. They are responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance in the ordinary and special activities of the organization.

What you’ll do

  • Review all final contracts, office leases, and other legal documents related to commercial real estate.

  • Provide counsel and legal advice on regulatory matters, pivotal initiatives, and other contracts. This includes intellectual property, dispute resolution, corporate and client and partner policies.

  • Work with the businesses to prepare client, partner, and other commercial contracts, project-specific legal matters, and business mergers and acquisitions.

  • Investigate claims and complaints by or against the company. Make business choices based on report findings.

  • Represent the company during court appearances on subpoenas.

  • Deliver experienced legal counsel and guidance to managers, executives, and employees on the legal aspects of various business lines.

  • Resolve pre-litigation, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution issues.

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.

  • Mentor others and share in-depth knowledge of own job subject area and broad knowledge of several job subject areas within the function.

  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement.

  • Impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within own team and other related teams.

  • Work within broad guidelines and policies.

  • Explain difficult or sensitive information.

What you’ll need

Juris Doctorate and Member of State Bar in good standing required with 5-8 years of meaningful experience.

Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

Willingness to take a fresh opinion on existing solutions.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive approach.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The maximum salary for the Sr. Counsel position is $230,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
