UCLA Health Senior Fund Manager (Hybrid-Remote) in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Fund Manager to collaborate with Department Leadership in overseeing all aspects of pre- and post-award administration for research awards funded both internally and externally. In this role, you will primarily support the Principal Investigators (PIs) within the department. You will be tasked with analyzing a wide range of issues and challenges, devising effective solutions, and typically handling complex proposals, including grants and contracts that involve intricate elements such as task budgets, option years, multiple investigators, and numerous sub-awards. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the organization, planning, establishment, and diligent monitoring of fiscal budget management for contracts, grants, gifts, endowments, and privately funded projects associated with faculty research programs. In addition to financial responsibilities, you will also offer expert guidance and counsel on intricate matters related to research administration. This includes ensuring compliance with regulations and standards to both principal investigators and departmental administrators.

Target annual rate: $64,800-$137,600Qualifications

Required:

  • 3-5 years of Research Administration experience

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate information in a timely, professional manner and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, external collaborators and administration and to work as a member of a team

  • Ability to set priorities and complete ongoing tasks with competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions, to meet the programmatic and financial needs of PIs and the department, while complying with University and funding agency policies and regulations.

  • Analytical skills to assess financial information, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions, make recommendations, and initiate corrective actions

  • Organization skills to create and maintain administrative and financial files effectively as well as independently balance the various tasks to ensure deadlines are met

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft suite software, especially Excel, to perform daily tasks efficiently and accurately

  • Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques

  • Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance/administration or experience equivalent
