Position Summary
Samsung Wallet is a mobile payment service and digital wallet developed by Samsung. It is designed to be a one-stop shop for all debit cards, credit cards, digital passes, and tickets, making them easy to access and use when necessary.

This position is being created along with the recently formed US Wallet team. The team’s primary focus is to bring on key content partners in the various wallet categories: mobile ID, digital keys, tickets, and passes, transit, payments, and others. The role will focus on generating wallet content and on corresponding revenue-generating use cases. These are complex deals that require focus from a seasoned business development professional.
Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Lead Strategic Partnership Development (SPD) and Strategic Partnership Management (SPM) activities within the Samsung Wallet and Emerging Business Group in the United States
Source, negotiate, and close new strategic partnerships
Cultivate highly effective, deep relationships with key partners with a focus on strategic growth opportunities
Develop and execute plans to accelerate Samsung Wallet’s ecosystem with content partners, developers, and platforms, focusing on new pipeline creation and partner growth
Provide actionable insights to shape product and partnerships, and drive impactful collaboration with cross-functional teams in product, engineering, marketing, and operations (including Korea HQ) to develop and execute a business strategy aimed at growing the Samsung Wallet ecosystem
Priority projects:
Focus on completing the digital ID and Driver’s License project with core partners
Develop relationships with all 50 states for integration of the certified driver’s license from the DMV along with lifecycle programs
Identify other technology partners to support IDs
Establish a business relationship with major hospitality chains to enable mobile keys and other hospitality-related experiences like mobile check-in with government ID
Research and identify partnerships for corporate access and student IDs
Establish relationships with major financial institutions and technology partners Research and identify the requirements to enable mobile health insurance cards, lead partnership opportunities
Identify and lead partnerships with major coupon and ticking companies
Skills and Qualifications
Skills
BA/BS required; MBA preferred
Up to 6 years of experience in business development, partnership management, and product management, ideally within the mobile space
Experience developing a business pipeline and working with partners
Experience in sourcing, managing, and negotiating with partners
Experience operating with and leading cross-functional teams
Ability to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems, and navigate large, global organizations
Deep understanding of the mobile ecosystem with fluency in business models and knowledge of the competitive landscape
Deep understanding of mobile technology including authentication and device-level security
Experience working with over-the-air provisioning of susceptible tokens such as payment cards
Deep understanding of highly regulated industries, and protection of consumer data within the context of generating new business opportunities
Ability to work proficiently in highly technical settings, leveraging product management and development teams during negotiations, and implementation
Ability to leverage business cases and an understanding of development capacity to prioritize product roadmaps
The salary range for this role, for candidates based in NYC, is expected to be between $120,000 and $155,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
