The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of a Project Assistant. A dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented individual is needed to join a research team at the University of Southern California to support a new research study. The study is investigating the effects of discrimination on substance use among Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) and how coping mechanisms and resiliency factors can mediate those effects. Employment involves (1) recruiting participants from diverse backgrounds including both in-person and online (at community events, on social media, etc.); (2) instructing participants on data collection tools and scheduling/maintaining contact with participants enrolled in the study for the duration of the project; (3) programming electronic survey questionnaires and entering data into databases; (4) creating reports; and (5) providing project support to the research study and the study staff personnel, students, and faculty investigators. Excellent English communication skills are required. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational capabilities, superb problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks. Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends may be needed. Prior experience in a research environment and experience with online survey programming (via REDCap or other similar platforms) are preferred.

The hourly rate range for this position is $26.69 - $28.00.
