Product Engineering is a software engineering team dedicated to building Snap AR products that solve customer problems and provide value to our community. It is a technical team that works directly with strategic partners, developers, and AR creators to help build new developer tools, products, frameworks, integrations, and interactive experiences that showcase Snap AR’s platform products like Camera Kit and Lens Studio.

We’re looking for an experienced software engineer with a passion for human-centered engineering and innovation to join the Product & Partner Engineering team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain our AR platform products, workflows, and developer frameworks and tools

  • Collaborate with other engineers and product managers to improve the Camera Kit SDK and Lens Studio workflows

  • Help design and build new interactive frameworks for improving AR products’ scale and extensibility

  • Ideate and prototype developer and creator tools to encourage innovation and new use cases for Snap AR technologies

  • Support technical relationships with development teams of our strategic partners and other customers of Snap AR platform products

  • Convert feedback from customers to help design and prioritize the most impactful features — be the voice of external developers internally

  • Be a Snap AR domain expert providing guidance and support to other internal teams, our community, strategic partners, or externally at conferences, meetups, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent problem solving, debugging, and QA skills

  • UX design, prototyping, and spec writing experience

  • Ability to communicate and explain complex concepts to our partners and community members

  • C++ proficiency and familiarity with any of: Swift, Objective-C, TypeScript, Kotlin

  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals as well as mobile development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience

  • 7+ years of software development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related technical field

  • Image processing, OpenGL, camera pipelines, or interactive AR experience

  • Understanding of product design, release cycles, and maintaining production software

  • Developing software systems of medium-to-large scope and complexity

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $202,000-$303,000 annually.

Zone B (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $192,000-$288,000 annually.

Zone C (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $172,000-$257,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
