UCLA Health Ophthalmic Technician I (Temporary), Oculoplastics - Ophthalmology in Los Angeles, California
Description
The OT I will work at Stein Eye Institute's Division of Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery in Westwood. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist physicians in performing surgical procedures in an ambulatory care setting
Clean, prepare, and maintain medical rooms and instruments
Conduct preliminary patient interviews and explain medical procedures; provide aesthetic consultations
Note patients' medical history, check visual acuity, take photographs, and perform tests
Triage patients with emergency ophthalmic problems, walk-in patients and telephone requests
Obtain authorizations for procedures, schedule appointments, and process payments
Salary Range: $33.02-43.56 Hourly
This is part-time temporary position scheduled to end within 12 months of hire date. May convert to Career.Qualifications
Required:
Must be able to accurately and efficiently perform visual assessments and take visual histories
Able to work rapidly and accurately with attention to detail.
Ability to be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
The ability to type 25 wpm and experience with computer data entry is mandatory.
Must be able to provide a comfortable caring atmosphere for patients.
Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
Ability to communicate well with patients, staff and doctors
Good organizational skills, and ability to follow up on tasks and see them through to completion
Preferred:
CPR certification
Demonstrate current knowledge of basic eye anatomy, basic eye disease categories, medical terminology for the care of the eye, and sterile technique
