We’re looking for a Manager, Media Planning & Strategy to join Team Snapchat, where we are working hard to build the best platform in the world for communication and storytelling.

As a member of the team, you will be responsible for developing integrated media strategies for several of our largest consumer and business-facing campaigns - driving adoption and engagement with our platform and various products globally. You will report to the Head of Media, work closely with our Marketing team, and help to manage our agency partners.

What you’ll do:

Strategic Planning

  • Communications Planning Leadership. Define how a campaign should show up in the world with a clear communications/media goal, unique and impactful audience insight, ties to culture, and actionable strategic principles/pillars and role of channels. Enable others (media, creative, production, marketer) to make the best and most impactful version of their ideas based on this definition

  • Media Planning Leadership. Debate, defend, recommend, and provide feedback on digital, OOH, TV, and social media tactics/ideas - in particular, whether they deliver on the strategic role that medium is playing in the plan, and based on the abilities and limitations of media tactics to deliver on a goal, audience, or idea

  • Agency & Media Team Management. Write, deliver, and amend media briefs to the media agency and give feedback on tactical media recommendations to steer them in the right direction

  • Creative Thinking. Bring a variety of high quality, unique creative uses of media & potential partnerships to the planning process - both within and outside of traditional media. We need this person - through their ideas - to stretch and evolve Snap media’s best practices with the consumer experience always first in mind

Marketing Integration

  • Seek out and incorporate information into your media strategy from marketers, strategy, social, and insights/analytics teams. Integrate trends in media performance, communication, and execution across different products/verticals into your strategies on an ongoing basis

  • Communicate the media strategies you are responsible for with clarity, simplicity, and brevity to all relevant members of the cross-functional marketing team, including leadership/ executives, intake & process their feedback

  • Establish and clearly communicate timelines related to executing the media strategy with the internal marketing team - includes working with media agency to define potential/plausible deliverables

  • Bring proactive solutions to organizational barriers to getting campaigns made - especially, in the working relationship between internal stakeholders and with external partners

  • Work with the internal media team & media agencies to help revise & optimize plans based on feedback (from you & others at Snap), and proactively manage expectations of the internal marketing team

  • Anticipate problems and solve them (or prepare solutions) before going to the management. Contribute actively to conversations and workshops as well as proactively suggesting new ways of working

Reporting & Measurement

  • You are responsible for working with the Marketing Measurement & Data Science team(s), Agency Partners, and internal media team to establish measurable KPIs on each media plan and deliver results (e.g. ROI, app downloads, feature uses, etc) to the team

  • You are responsible for determining the successes and failures of a campaign, initiative, or activation to the media & marketing team. It is your responsibility to document them and build on that learning to ensure all future planning benefits accordingly

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Track record of developing impactful communications/media strategies that delivered results and achieved business objectives. Need to have examples of when your unique or considered approach to media set or changed the entire advertising/marketing campaign.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt and work effectively with a team, need have examples showing how you’ve convinced others to try an idea or strategy that you came up with

  • Translate the marketers goals and creative vision into where/when we want to show up with media including defining the audience, identifying media placements and messages and unique, compelling ways of addressing the audience

  • You enjoy and are able to make mental space/time to come up with creative-media ideas & thought-starters and pitch them to co-workers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of communication & media planning experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You work well with others and embody the Snap values of kind, smart, and creative

  • Experience working directly with strategists, creatives, and marketers (clients) to develop impactful advertising campaigns

  • Exemplary project management skills, with strong ability to juggle multiple priorities and excel in a lean and fast paced work environment

  • You don’t get rattled easily when there are roadblocks or snares in the planning workflow, and you’re familiar enough with process to know when it is ok to break it
