Position Summary
The Housekeeper/Custodian will have janitorial duties as well as operations and maintenance responsibilities, including the general upkeep of the grounds and the facilities. Working with the Operation Manager, he/she will ensure that Hope Harbor Center is a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.
Essential Functions
Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents and staff.
Clean all resident rooms as assigned. (some daily)
Clean all offices as assigned.
Mop, Strip, buff, and wax and/or vacuum all floors, including common areas and hallways
Clean kitchen / dining room area as needed.
Store and maintain cleaning equipment.
Maintain grounds, all areas of property.
Assist with building maintenance: painting and performing light repair work
Report any inappropriate behavior on the grounds to the Management.
Perform housekeeping duties as needed.
Operations: Pick up supplies as needed.
Organize and maintain client patio area and exercise area.
Clean shared Restrooms and Showers daily.
Pressure wash front entrance, windows, walls and floors as needed.
Empty all trash daily.
Assist on special events, community events, classes, groups and meetings in cleaning, setting up and breaking down.
Perform all duties with courtesy and respect, maintaining a healthy relationship with the staff and clients.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
High School education or equivalent.
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
Minimum one year’s experience in janitorial and grounds maintenance.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge of proper usage of cleaning chemicals as complying with Cal / OSHA regulations.
Knowledge in Janitorial work
Knowledge in use of hand tools and power tools
Driver’s license, ability to drive
Must be able to pass background check
