VCA Animal Hospitals Seeking Experienced Veterinary Assistant in Longview, Washington

Join the VCA Ocean Beach Animal Hospital Team! We are looking to add an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to our team.

Greetings and welcome to VCA Ocean Beach Animal Hospital ! We are a multi-doctor general practice facility that offers a wide range of services including Wellness, Preventative care, Routine care, Surgery and Dental procedures. Our hospital has been serving the Longview community for over 30 years. We believe in providing the best possible care and safety to our patients.

Our hospital is in Longview, Washington, just minutes to the beautiful Lake Sacajawea and only an hour from Portland, Oregon. We are surrounded by mountains on one side and the beautiful Oregon and Washington Coast on the other. There are many local activities to engage in and this is a great place to call home.

As a member of the VCA team, the Veterinary Assistant will support technician and doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent—by delivering an outstanding client experience—so we can provide exceptional care to every patient. We want you to use the knowledge that you’ve invested your time and talent in. The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide quality patient care while maintaining a Low-stress approach

  • Proficient in blood draws, IV catheter placement and maintenance

  • Ability to acquire quality digital radiographs

  • Administering vaccinations, SQ fluids and other medications

  • Patient restraint during examinations, injections, treatments, induction etc.

  • Surgical preparation and assisting

  • Patient surgical and sedated recovery

  • Maintain hospital cleanliness and building upkeep

  • Prioritize tasks and redirect when needed

  • Have the ability to multitask

  • Work collectively in teams and alone

  • Keep hospital supplies stocked

  • Process laboratory samples

  • Run in hospital blood work panels

  • Assist Veterinarians and Technicians with tasks

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Compassionate care of our hospitalized animals

Compensation: $ 19.00 – $22.00 /hour. Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity, 32-40 hours per week. Closed weekends.

Requirements: 6+ months experience as a Veterinary Assistant or currently enrolled in a Veterinary Assistant Program.
