Aston Carter Supply Chain Planner in Long Beach, California

The Material Planner I is responsible for effective inventory management, ensuring that material input aligns with customer requirements while achieving financial inventory objectives. This role involves analyzing situations and data to address diverse challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the steady flow of production materials essential for manufacturing operations.

  • Coordinate and execute scheduling activities for assigned parts using ERP systems (specifically SAP).

  • Ensure an adequate supply of products to meet production demands and customer delivery timelines.

  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for inventory reduction, improved customer service, and cost reduction in support of lean manufacturing.

  • Coordinate advance notice, input, and resolution of material shortages or overages.

  • Lead weekly inventory cycle counts and reconcile variances.

  • Facilitate annual inventory counts.

  • Demonstrate effective collaboration by sharing pertinent business information across departments.

  • Provide lead times for internal and external customer requests for quotation (RFQ).

  • Ensure timely release and closure of production work orders.

  • Monitor material delivery dates to meet production needs.

  • Support procurement functions as needed (primarily backup support for buyers).

  • Manage inventory counts and address shortages.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of specific planning experience.

  • Experience in a regulated industry (Aerospace or Medical Device preferred).

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (especially SAP) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

  • Analytical skills to identify gaps and suggest improvements.

  • Familiarity with cycle/inventory counts and inventory management.

  • Ability to release materials effectively.
