Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc. Procurement Manager in Long Beach, California
The Manager of Procurement is responsible for managing the procurement and supplier management for the Contract Logistics Division. This position manages supplier selection portfolio, performance, spend, and service to best support operations’ performance, driving improved financial performance. This position manages the Facilities technicians responsible for repair and maintenance of the Southern California operations. Engaging with senior leadership teams, Operations Management, and Support Departments, this position manages procurement and facilities to provide the best services, tools, savings, and investments to meet our Operations Team requirements for our Customers.
Manages all purchasing agreements and supplier selection to support best value, service and savings for the business unit.
Prioritizes and key oversight of Procurement Projects and Initiatives that support Divisional and OPS Support objectives.
Plans, performs, and tracks results and savings for all Request for Proposals(RFPs) for CLG services and schedules and maintains Quarterly Business Reviews for all Critical Suppliers with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to continuously improve performance and communication.
Creates Dashboard reporting and ensures database management for Procurement activities and supplier savings tracking, including MHE and Fleet management Key performance indicators.
Manages, encourages, trains, and develops OPS Support Procurement Supervisor and Facilities Supervisor to meet or exceed performance goals and objectives.
Oversees Building Repair and Maintenance and facilities infrastructure to deliver ongoing operations and protect our investments and safety of our employees.
Supports Investment Committee applications with financial data and justifications, reporting, and analysis.
Knowledgeable of all Standard Operations processes for review and submission of supplier qualification, legal contract review, and purchasing system approvals and protocol.
Maintains key relationships with Operations and facility management, support staff, and critical vendors so that Operations has best work environment, equipment, and capacity to deliver for Yusen customers at the best value.
Understand and supports continuous improvement thru Kaizen methodology and new technologies.
Provides management and resources for new facility and account start-ups and business expansion.
Attends conferences, meeting, and workshops to maintain current knowledge of best procurement and facilities maintenance methods and procedures or to maintain required level of certification.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required, with concentration in supply chain, logistics, business economics is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in (a combination of ) business operations, procurement, and facilities.
Prior experience in the logistics supply chain, freight forwarding, warehousing, trans-loading business is preferred.
Demonstrated management skills and previous success with supervision of college educated analysts.
Exceptional attention to detail.
High communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form – with a wide variety of individuals from front line employees to senior executives.
Demonstrated skills in managing people and projects.
Ability to create and manage financial reports, budget and metrics.
Strong analytical, logical and problem-solving skills.
Professional presence, polished communication skills, and proven ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of employees.
Innate interest in developing creative solutions withing procurement and facilities that drive continuous improvement and business unit savings.
High level skills and knowledge of Microsoft office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and database management.

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects demonstrated through prior experience as a project manager, and/or through related PM certification or course work. Knowledge of WBS in project management highly desired. Inspires the trust of others.
