Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as an Avionics Integration Engineer. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Design and release of wire harness models and drawings using NX software
Design and release of Avionics mechanical brackets, enclosures, and fixtures using NX software
Responsible for harnessing on various test stands, co-ordinate the wire harness design and installation between various departments.
Work with Electrical engineers to confirm optimized design for interferences, Hi vib environments, ease of installation, and other design concerns
Responsible for generating wire harness routing in NX, form board design and support harness build activities.
Responsible for integration tests to verify functional operation.
Responsible for generating test fixtures and test procedures for system level test.
Applies basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems
Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions, and communicates results to project engineering staff
Maintain detailed schedules that support overall product schedules and properly communicate status to management
Work on a team to complete projects with high quality while maintaining schedules

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with experience in harness 3D design, or related field of study.
3D Modeling experience in NX
Knowledge and experience with NX wire harnessing, or Creo wire harnessing or Solidworks wire harnessing
Nice to have: Knowledge of MIL 38999 standards, NASA 8739.4 or equivalent specs
