We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our growing International Accident & Health team in London and work alongside some exciting global clients. We are able to offer our clients both Lloyds and Company Paper. Our distribution strategy is heavily focused on delegated business and as such would requires ‘Connected Underwriting’ within the organization. Good data analytical skills are essential.

Job Summary

  • Trusted to operate within the underwriting guidelines with full underwriting authority.

  • Able to undertake all the analysis required and prepare and submit all the necessary documentation to support underwriting decisions.

  • Manages relationships with clients/brokers – acts as an ambassador for AXIS in every working relationship, cementing our reputation internally and externally.

  • Holds broad relationships across the market with brokers, clients and peers.

  • To be the Lead point of contact

  • Monitor the underwriting performance of the business and make changes as necessary.

  • Able to undertake analysis on the existing portfolio and identify areas where changes could impact and improve financial performance or operational performance.

  • Work closely with colleagues in Delegated Underwriting, Conduct Risk, Actuarial, Claims, Bordereaux Management, Finance, Audit to appropriately manage binding authority contracts.

  • Mentor junior members of the team

  • Able to run with projects such as product development, rating model improvements or similar, managing the internal and external interfaces and delivering the project on time with a successful outcome.

  • Able to introduce profitable new business to AXIS and to manage a portfolio within the product line.Accountable for the results.

  • Navigate internal operating systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite such classes of business as outlined in the Underwriting Authority to achieve targets set out in the business plan, in accordance with internal policy on underwriting standards and control

  • Establish and maintain beneficial working relationships with brokers, clients and reinsurers to develop the business, and negotiate both new and renewal contracts.

  • Monitor individual business segment and portfolio results through appropriate analysis and reporting

  • Use and enhancement of benchmarking tools and models to support business pricing requirements

  • Act as focal point for the provision of technical information in respect of the classes underwritten

  • Day to day support and mentoring of junior team members

  • Use formal reporting mechanisms to promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived new risks or failures of existing control measures

  • Act in a way that pays due regards to the interests of customers and treats them fairly at all times

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant Accident & Health Insurance Experience

  • Background in financial services, preferably within the Lloyd’s Market

  • Ideally with or working towards ACII

  • Competence in Microsoft Excel to an advanced level
