Job Summary

We are looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to document and provide efficient and cost effective solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small components to complex assemblies. The primary product focus being on fluid conveyance systems for military and aerospace applications. The manufacturing engineering will work on all stages of a product, from research and development to bill of material generation to production.

Job Requirements

Skills & Qualifications

• 4-Year University degree in Engineering

• 1-2 years' experience in Hydraulic, Military and/or Aerospace industry is an asset

• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks

• Proficient in MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.…

• Machining, welding and brazing knowledge is an asset

• Tube bending and processing knowledge is an asset

• Assembly instructions and processing knowledge

• English fluency with excellent oral and written communication skills

• Precise and concise written communication skills

• Ability to develop and prepare sketches and write technical reports

• Ability to interpret specifications, prepare contracts, estimate costs and materials

• Ability to complete documentation packages and drawing sets, examine drawings for conformity and errors

• Good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a wide range of people, including clients, designers, directors and plant operators

• Ability to work well within a small team and work independently

• Ability to come up with creative solutions to manufacturing problems

• Ability to work under pressure from customers and deadlines

• Organizational skills, such as time and resource planning

• Must be eligible to meet the requirements from Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain and control customer drawings and documents

• Setup new products and BoMs in ERP and MRP software applications

• Create 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings

• Develop and prepare sketches and write technical reports

• Create and implement engineering changes (ECRs, ECOs and ECNs)

• Maintain engineering BoMs and manufacturing times

• Create and maintain manufacturing processes, plans, and procedures

• Plan and implement new production processes and train operators

• Design and create manufacturing fixtures and jigs

• Review and disposition quality non-conformances

• Create re-work plans for quality non-conformances

• Maintain tools and equipment

• Assist and resolve manufacturing issues

• Interpret specifications, prepare contracts, estimate costs and materials

• Complete documentation packages, drawing sets, examine drawings for conformity and errors

• Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers

• Ensure products are made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments

• Assist with engineering projects – Quoting programs and deployment/industrialization

• Develop, test and evaluate prototype designs

• Recommend modifications following prototyping and initial test results

• Develop cost-effective part modifications to help improve safety and reliability

• Participate and lead continuous improvement projects

• Other tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager
