Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot mechanical issues, repair and maintain dies, and replace worn steel components. The role involves operating various machinery and equipment to ensure the proper functioning of die components.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs on dies.

  • Replace worn steel components.

  • Lift using hoist or crane.

  • Clean dies using pressure washer.

  • Polish, grind, and finish core inserts.

  • Perform welding and brazing tasks.

  • Measure die parts using a metric scale.

  • Perform layout according to design specifications.

  • Disassemble and assemble die parts.

  • Fit die using handwork techniques.

  • Cut and thread pipe using a pipe threader.

  • Wire limit switches.

  • Apply surface coding.

  • Complete daily reports of all die repair content.

  • Complete Preventative Maintenance check sheets.

  • Fabricate any needed items.

  • Operate milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience troubleshooting and performing maintenance on die equipment in an industrial manufacturing setting or a 2-year industrial maintenance degree.

  • Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with preventative maintenance.

  • Ability to use milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders.

  • Proficiency in welding and brazing.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Understanding of basic algebra and geometry concepts.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school, or two (2) to four (4) years of experience and a high school diploma or G.E.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment involves large die casting equipment and can be hot, dirty, and loud. You will work on die casting equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics, and automated equipment, including robotics. The environment includes exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Occasional exposure to high places, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock may occur. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, Kentucky

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $28.00
