Why this role matters

In this role, you will be co-ordinating with BT stakeholders, Government and BT’s vendors to ensure that undue Geoplitical influence does undermine BT’s business models, services, networks or strategy. Reviewing the global ecosystem, and advising BT on where the Geopolitical risks are emerging. Ensuring that BT’s goals are delivered accordingly through various ecosystem partners including International Standards groups. Keeping BT at the forefront of new global technology development and fully coordinated with our vendor ecosystem and International standards.

This role is based in London.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Maintaining an internal forum to engage with senior stakeholders and peers for Geopolitical Standards influence aligned to RaNS and BT Strategy. Externally representing BT interests at various Standards bodies and fora, whilst building strong relationships with Industry players (including vendors and other communication providers), Ofcom,

UK Gov (Dept. for Science, Innovation & Technology) and Foreign Regulators. Ensuring that Security considerations are taken account of during any standards development

Sharing skills and updating colleagues on our Standards strategy, using a variety of methods including presentations, group chats and other internal tools.

This role will:

• Represent BT interests at International Standards, including necessary foreign travel.

• Arrange regular calls/meetings to coordinate internally and with vendors on International Standards.

• Build strong relationships internally, and in private discussions with vendors and key players

in public forums

You'll have the following skills and experience

Skills

• Ability to work in an Agile way

• Excellent understanding of Geopolitics and

the impact on Standards and hence BT

• Ability to create relationships internally and

externally to foster technical dialogue

• Track record in managing a project across

different teams

• Understanding of key security considerations

• Understanding of Network Design

Experience

• 5-10 Years in Telecommunications industry

MANDATORY

• Previous experience in industry standards
