Job Description
Background of the project:
The International Rescue Committee has launched a project, TRANSFORM: Building Diverse Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) Inclusion in Humanitarian Response . A considerable part of this project is centered around the development and dissemination of learning resources; as such, IRC are looking to establish a visual identity for the project.
Scope of work:
The Consultant will be responsible for providing a professionally designed project visual identity pack that can be contextualized and adapted.
The identity needs to be compatible for all four of IRC’s working languages - English, Arabic, French and Spanish. The pack should be inclusive and accessible, including screen-reader compatible.
This process will include maximum two reviews and set of amends.
Deliverables:
The individual consultant will be responsible for designing a project visual identity pack, which also aligns with the IRC style guide. This pack may include the following, to be definitively agreed in the initial meeting:
TRANSFORM logo
PowerPoint template
Publications template, including a case study template
This template will identify colors, typographies, cover pages, and images that are appropriate to use
If needed, the designer may be required to develop an initial repository of images
Other outputs such as Zoom background and banner for registration pages, social media cards (TBD)
The consultant will share the deliverables in the following formats:
Files for the logo, images and other deliverables, in format to be confirmed in the initial meeting
PowerPoint template
Word template with pre-inserted settings for case study and general publications
Please note all formats will need to be compatible with IRC’s four languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish
Style guide in PDF format in English
The following estimated timeline is proposed for the completion of the identified deliverables (inbold):
Day and Activity
Day 1 - Designer meets with IRC TRANSFORM representatives to discuss requirements, ideas and things to avoid
Day 5 - Designer shares3 possible logosfor consideration
Day 7 - IRC inform designer of the selected logo
Day 10 - Designer sharesfirst draft project visual identity packfor review
Day 11 - IRC share first round of feedback on draft identity pack with designer. Designer meets with IRC if required.
Day 13 - Designer to sharesecond draft of visual identity pack–if required
Day 14 - IRC share any final feedback with designer –if required
Day 15 - Designer to shareclean final visual identity pack
NB: Dates would be based on 15 working days Monday – Friday, not including weekends, however for the consultant there is flexibility on working days and hours. Time between dates can be discussed in initial meeting.
Qualifications
Requirements:
2+ years demonstrated graphic design work and experience
Able to work independently from home with access to all necessary equipment and programs
Previous experience in humanitarian sector and/or DEI work is a strong advantage
Working proficiency in either Spanish, French or English. A minimum of limited working proficiency is required in English.
Ability to work in more than one of IRC’s languages is an advantage (Arabic, English, French or Spanish)
Please note there is flexibility on working days/hours and time zones, however the consultant would need to be available for the abovementioned meetings between 8am – 8pm UK time GMT+1.
