This is a new full-time, professional position that will contribute to DAI’s Sustainable Business Group (SBG). DAI SBG is a specialised unit within DAI that develops unique products and consulting services to help clients operate more sustainably and responsibly. We work with both the public and private sector across a wide range of geographies where we offer a range of advisory and implementation services ranging from helping private and public corporations manage, re-organise and develop their local and global supply chains in a manner that drives commercial success while promoting social and environmental sustainability and economic development, to SME development, entrepreneurship and innovation, corporate social investments and strategy/policy development.

This exciting role sits within SBG’s growth and strategy team and is based in the London, UK office. We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to join our dynamic and highly entrepreneurial team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing and executing a commercial long-term roadmap for our digital solution’s innovation and growth to achieve business objectives.

Serving both existing and prospective clients, the Digital Product Owner will spearhead the digital product efforts to expand DAI’s Supplier Management Portal (SMP) product and associated offerings. Our target candidate will have 5-7 years’ experience in Digital Product Management and 8-10 years of professional experience. They must have a customer-first mindset, a strong understanding of back-end and front-end programming languages, and the ability to develop data pipelines that can be used to track, analyse, and improve our digital product. This role requires a candidate with excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills as you'll be working with a team to interpret large amounts of data. This is a customer centric role, working to translate the needs of the customer into online business opportunities and regularly dealing with current clients and pitching to leads. This role will report to DAI’s VP Head of Growth and Strategy, based in London.

The Supplier Management Portal (SMP) is used by multi-national companies to facilitate local spending on large capital projects and track positive impact on local economies throughout the world. It is a cloud-based platform that connects large-scale buyers to local small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This solution is developed and backed by DAI’s industry-leading experts in local content, leveraging decades of knowledge, insight, and experience in how local content is measured, monitored, reported, and analysed.

Objectives of this Role

  • Drive product strategy and long-term vision for a best-in-class B2B digital product

  • Conduct user research and usability studies, collaborating with designers, developers, and research teams from end to end of the process.

  • Work with SBG VP to craft a product vision (short to long term) and convert that into a concrete strategy.

  • Leading market research, validation, and whitespace analysis to identify new opportunities for new and existing features and functionalities.

  • Partner with SBG VP and agile product teams to build product roadmaps that can then be translated into product requirements.

  • Evaluate, analyse, and understand the voice of the customer through a variety of data sources.

  • Lead commercially facing team in client engagement and retention activities for the SMP.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the product roadmap and backlog for the SMP, working closely with third party software developers and internal full stack technical software engineer.

  • Oversee and manage lead requirements discovery, solution design, user story writing, feature development, and user acceptance testing.

  • Partner with SBG VP to identify key capabilities needed as well as identifying potential issues.

  • Work closely with client teams to gather and prioritize client feedback to drive innovation and increase client adoption and retention.

  • Work with Communications and Marketing team to develop product marketing materials and content to position and message to ensure differentiation from competitor.

  • Monitor and evaluate product performance to ensure constant product iteration and improvements.

  • Create and maintain foundational digital platform documentation.

  • Lead budgeting activities and maintain oversight of commercial and contract templates in relation.

  • Lead client demos to showcase SMP and its various functionalities.

  • Provide as-needed support to existing SMP client needs including technical assistance.

  • Oversee SMP configurations, set-up, and training across current and future client portfolio.

  • Develop and maintain product pricing schedules.

  • Develop and maintain standard product specification documentation, technical documentation.

  • Work with DAI’s technical experts to manage instance-specific technical configurations, specifically for the Reporting Function

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, prioritisation, and negotiating skills.

  • Usability and customer-focused design experience a plus

  • Passionate about building great products and solving customer and business problems.

  • Global mindset: ability to appreciate differences in market needs, competitive environment and cultural norms across multiple countries and sectors.

  • Working knowledge of SaaS technical issues (e.g., configuration, integration, etc.) Ability to be “stand-alone” in senior client settings.

  • Experience and ability to work with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Experience in directing and influencing cross-functional teams.

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within product management, with a successful track record of bringing products to market.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills to make informed product decisions.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve product goals.

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and product management tools. 8. Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving product excellence and business objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passion for innovation and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Bachelor's degree in: Business, Product Management, Computer Science/IT or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.

  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and/or Renewables and/or large capital projects (is preferrable)

  • Experience writing SQL queries, experience with at least some of the back end and front-end programming languages, such as Python, React, Django, Java, HTML, CSS and/or Angular JS

  • Language fluency/business proficient communication in a second language such as Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese (is a plus).

Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Supervisory Requirements: Full stack software engineer will report into this role.
