Overview of the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to help guide acquisition and portfolio strategies across Europe. The position will work closely with our acquisition, investment, portfolio management and asset management teams, bringing together top-down macro research with bottom-up market intelligence. Internal touch points also include distribution, product, marketing, performance management and the leadership team. The role reports to the Head of European Research and will collaborate with the broader Nuveen Strategic Insights team, which encompasses global real estate research, sustainability, proptech, and innovation.

The ideal candidate will have existing experience with economic research, real estate analysis, or both. Within the research function the role will focus on quantitative analysis. Previous experience with large data sets, machine learning, econometrics and real estate debt markets are particularly beneficial. While contributing to broader research initiatives that span sectors, the role may develop into specialising on selected property types.

The successful candidate will have a prominent role within the organisation, held up as a subject matter expert. The role will present internally and externally to clients and at industry events.

Key responsibilities:

  • The analysis, production, development, and presentation, internally and externally, of European market analysis.

  • Project based work to support new products and re-pivoting Nuveen into new sectors, geographies, and competencies

  • Working directly with our sector teams, and existing Nuveen funds to support, promote and advise on strategy and AUM growth

  • Providing steer in terms of favoured markets. Strategic advice to our business and clients in the context of different sectors and global thematic trends.

  • Asset acquisition and disposal advice – writing / discussing independent research views on potential investments and business plans. Vocal in Investment Committee on equity and debt side.

  • Coordinating with marketing and distribution, and having an active role in client meetings, investor presentations and conferences to promote Nuveen real estate.

  • Modelling real estate and economic data to build international views of real estate markets and forecast performance.

  • Helping to ensure consistency of data analysis across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions. Developing a network of local providers of research and managing budgets

  • Ensuring that data and systems are maintained for accuracy, consistency and business continuity. Developing innovative approaches to analysing and presenting data

  • Support and regular communication with Nuveen Real Estate fund and investment managers regarding market updates and current portfolios

  • Report writing, quarterly investment updates to clients, but also marketing material

  • Being a spokesperson for our business, building our reputation globally through assisting with PR efforts - to include writing for industry publications, speaking to journalists, attending and speaking at conferences

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Relevant degree subjects might include economics, geography, mathematics, finance, land management or similar

  • Significant experience in a real estate related organisation, ideally within a research department

  • Advanced excel skills and data analysis understanding are essential

  • Additional data analysis, programming, modelling and mapping software skills (e.g. Tableau, Quickbase, E-views, CausaLens, Python) will be required

  • (European) languages in addition to English proficiency are beneficial

  • Willingness to travel across Europe
