Amazon Project Manager-Communications, Program Management in London, United Kingdom

Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a high judgement, employee-obsessed, creative, and results-driven Program Manager to lead programs that focus on helping leaders increase employee engagement.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

You are responsible for managing the lifecycle of a complex cross-functional program with considerable impact. You are able to define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyse data, drive improvements that are quantified with metrics, and influence resource allocation. You may be assigned to manage the roadmap for an organization, which may include contributing to financial planning, and/or ownership of one or more organizational goals.

You are an excellent communicator both written and verbal. You write effective narratives present them effectively to directors and VPs. You routinely deliver the right things with limited guidance. When confronted with discordant views, you are able to find the best way forward and influence others to follow that path (build consensus).

You are able to solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks). You demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate (without damaging relationships). You are data-driven, regularly review metrics and proactively seek out new and improved data/mechanisms for visibility. You ensure your program stays aligned with organizational objectives.

Key job responsibilities

• Play a key role in building and fostering Amazon culture within the program.

• Develop standard operating procedures, change/communication plans, and project/program-level status updates.

• Create and update internal communication materials, such as the program wiki, program newsletter etc.

• Overall responsibility for internal quarterly town-hall and ad-hoc speaker events.

• Partner with Program Director to communicate feedback gathered from employee surveys, as well as associated steps to address any issues, to employee audience.

• Partner closely with other internal communications teams, HR business partners, and AWS PR teams for key moments to help inform and delight employees
