About the Role

Helping run the Global Press Office, the Global Press Office Intern will assist in global media relations. This includes liaising with international media and assisting journalists on various fronts. Focus topics and communications activities will centre around scientific research from Elsevier’s 2,900 journals, corporate announcements, technology launches, global research studies and campaigns. Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the running of the Global Press Office by providing excellent administrative support.

  • Helping edit, proofread and distribute Elsevier’s press releases across our primary channels, national, global and scientific media wires, and related media agencies.

  • Helping build media relationships, answering queries from media outlets, monitoring social media and news coverage and reporting them back to the business.

  • Assisting in distributing daily newsletters and media access codes for our various platforms used by media around the world.

  • Creating monthly media reports and presentations.

  • Building media lists

Requirements

  • Be currently enrolled or graduated in a field related to journalism, communications, research or science. If research or science, you should have an interest in media relations/communications.

  • Be a native or near-native English speaker with excellent communications skills, both verbally and in writing.

  • Have excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook with advanced skills in Excel

  • Have great organizational skills with the ability to take initiative.

  • Have the ability to multi-task and deal with completing priorities.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail and ability to work impartially.
