Citigroup Custody Credit Product Manager - Director (Hybrid) in London, United Kingdom

Team/Role Overview

This role is a new position in the Custody business, with the opportunity to lead the development of the credit product function. This is a high-profile position, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing end-to-end Custody credit risk.

What you’ll do

  • As part of a complete evaluation of Custody credit utilisation, review, design and implement appropriate rules/logic across Global and Direct Custody, reviewing netting rules, Legal Entities, DVP failure, and associated controls. To include defining the parameters for client clearing-line right-sizing, and use of available client funds

  • Design and build an optimised Credit operating model for the business, including the identification and implementation of key credit risk metrics, task automation, controls, operational processes, KPIs to show progress and reduce Credit risk for Custody while minimising negative impact on clients.

  • Assess Credit Exposure Factors considering cost, credit, client benefit – including mapping out the roadmap for any technology and/or operating model optimisation and associated controls.

  • Review and optimise the processes end to end for excess credit approval, balancing risk, client experience and competitive differentiation versus peers.

  • Oversee clearing lines approved to support Client Custody and Exchange Traded Services activity, as well as implementing processes for periodic re-calibration

  • Co-ordinate and liaising with individual Product leads to identify and address credit control gaps and/or issues

  • Ensure compliance with the Banking & International Risk Securities Services Standard and Procedures

  • Develop strategic action plans and credit consumption models to future proof the credit process for new business and organic growth

  • Partner with and challenge Regional and Country Product Heads, Coverage and other first line business colleagues on credit related matters and operating processes required for the Custody Credit products offered

  • Conduct market review and deep-dives as needed to address credit & control issues

  • Crisis Management (Country and Client) – lead and coordinate the credit crisis management plans with Custody Product and Country teams and 1LoD & 2LoD Counterparty Credit units

What we’ll need from you

  • Significant experience in a Credit Risk role within a regulated Financial Services company, preferably in Securities Services. SME in Credit Risk and credit usage – from both a theoretical and practical standpoint.

  • Seasoned Risk Professional to help lead development of a balanced risk management mindset across Product, Operations, Technology and Client partner groups.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work closely with stakeholders in the business. Comfortable delivering results in a largely matrix role – influencing others without direct management oversight to deliver business results.

  • Excellent communicator, written and oral, with the gravitas to manage and present to regulators and boards as well as senior business management

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, coming to terms with and bringing order to an at times fragmented technological, organisational and operational landscape.

  • Good judgement - ability to ensure sound risk management practices while recognizing and demonstrating sensitivity to competing interests.
