Stantec is currently seeking a Consultant with Major Infrastructure experience to join any of our UK offices. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and ambitious group with a strong growing workload.

We are seeking a motivated individual who wants to become a key member of our team delivering some of the UK's largest and most ambitious projects. This role would suit a Consultant who is excited by a broad range of different activities and who can quickly adapt to manage work within any of the key aspects of Major Infrastructure Development. The Major Infrastructure team delivers a wider range of projects across all consenting regimes and sectors including a number of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. Our projects include Thames Tideway, M3 Junction 9 Improvement scheme, HS2, Riverside Energy Park, Water for Life Hampshire and offshore wind farms for clients and public authorities as well as working to represent local planning authorities affected by schemes such as Lower Thames Crossing.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with technical reports on a broad range of topics to support our consent submissions

  • Preparing technical content for consultation events and responding to objections or comments

  • Assisting in the preparation of final submission documents for major infrastructure projects

  • Researching new or innovative solutions to issues that arise in the consents process as we progress our projects

  • Working alongside the team, managing our relationships with key bodies such as Local Authorities, Natural England and the Environment Agency

You will be expected to form a key part of a team delivering on one or more major infrastructure consents. You will plan, organise and manage small projects or work packages of larger projects and communicate progress as required, this could be pre or post-consent work to ensure that large projects are delivered in a timely and orderly manner for our clients.

About You

You will join us with a preferred professional/academic qualification from one of the following core technical aspects of major infrastructure consenting:

  • Planning

  • Environment

Other relevant professional backgrounds may also be considered, including:

  • Engineering

  • Stakeholder management / Consultation

  • Planning law

  • Project Management

  • Land acquisition

You will be able to learn and quickly become competent in specific aspects of Major Infrastructure consenting including delivering key submission documents, fulfilling legal obligations and managing or arranging events (such as public consultations), forming a key part of the consents process and our highly focused team. You will also possess strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
