About the position
We are looking for a talented energetic and results-driven sales professional to be responsible for growing european events business. The successful individual will focus on selling IDC’s european and local event sponsorships and custom events, establishing, sustaining and growing strong client relationships with ICT vendor accounts based in the UK.
As a Business Development Representative you will lead the sales strategy and activity for all european and UK conferences and custom events. You will be a key member of our successful sales team and will be responsible for achieving ambitious but realistic sales targets, working both independently as well as through the UK and European Account manager network.
The role requires a drive to develop relationships and new business opportunities with the IT Vendor community and an interest in IT trends impacting their business. The ideal candidate will be able to uncover customer needs and requirements and determine how clients can leverage the IDC event portfolio to support their business and lead generation objectives.
Undertake direct sales of IDC events portfolio (scheduled conferences and events) to UK account base to meet annual quota
Collaborate with IDC account managers to identify events prospects within all assigned accounts and drive business development activity for conference sponsorships, bespoke custom events and the European Summits
Research and identify new opportunities and new prospects to sustain and build healthy pipelines
Leverage social selling platforms such as Linkedin Navigator to identify and engage with new prospects in target accounts.
Work closely with the different event managers to align on timing, delivery and scope for events
Deliver strategic and bespoke proposals and pitches to senior level contacts, over the phone and face to face as well as identifying opportunities for upsell integrated marketing campaigns
Arrange and conduct face to face meetings with key marketing and event decision makers from IT vendors, to position multi event solutions and annual campaigns to support their business objectives.
Attend all conferences as commercial lead ensuring high level of customer service, delivery of sponsorships and initiating repeat business opportunities
Work in close collaboration with Event Director
to input on sales tools and proposals.
Work in close collaboration with IDC analysts on each event to map clients to event types and topics best suited to support their offering’s and objectives
Collaborate with the marketing manager to define effective marketing campaigns for each conference as well as leveraging other IDC marketing events, activities & research to support business development

4 years + sales experience selling event sponsorship
Self motivated with Entrepreneurial attitude
Proven track record in achieving sales targets
Excellent communication skills with proven ability to successfully build relationships internally as well as externally – with all levels of the organization
Strong time management and ability to prioritise workload.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Prior Salesforce.com experience is a plus
Collaborative team player
A proven ability to manage the sales life cycle from prospecting to close
Experienced in using social media channels for prospecting/client outreach
