AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

Within SMGS, the World-Wide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is seeking a business development leader of the Global Financial Services (GFS) Enterprise Applications, Migration, and Modernization (EAMM) team.

AWS is looking for an accomplished technology and financial services market leader with experience across product, business, and technology who has worked with global Enterprises and high-growth organizations to develop business case and accelerate their cloud-native journey for the role of Specialist Leader of the WWSO GFS EAMM team.

In this capacity, the leader will have revenue impact while leading a cross-functional team of Sales and Business Development Specialists.

The Specialist team that this person will lead also acts as an important feedback ingestion point from all global GFS customers that directly feeds into the roadmap for product and services team at AWS. While leading a team of technical, product, and business experts, you will lead domain-based discussions with C-suite executives.

You will play a critical role in taking the voice of the customer and sharing it back to the Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) team to ensure customer feedback is amplified to effectively influence our technology roadmaps and Go-To-Market strategy.

This role will contribute to the overall performance of the business globally measured by revenue growth, net new customers, and product and service influence. You will have experience as a leader of leaders, with significant vertical exposure. You will have overachieved throughout your career and built strong, deep relationships with global organizations and scientific community.

Key job responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess both a business and technical background that allows them to strategically engage at the executive level both with customers and internal stakeholders. You should also be a self-starter who is prepared to develop GTM strategy and execute against a fast-moving execution plan. Dive deep, build partnerships, and drive operational excellence is a key requirement for the role.

• Hire, on-board, coach, and develop new GTM Specialists from internal and external sources.

• Develop mechanisms, and tools that enable fast engagement with customers and track key metrics, and KPIs for your team.

• Build and leverage relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to further the adoption of AWS services in the market.

• Lead a Customer Obsessed business that delights our customers and aids in their innovation.

• Accelerate customer adoption through well-developed sales engagements and successful GTM strategies to achieve customer outcomes.

• Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS Specialists and BD community

• Guide and motivate the development of customer references, case studies, blogs, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices. Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, WW teams, service teams and support.

• Travel up to 30% of the time.

A day in the life

The Enterprise Applications, Migration, and Modernization team consists of domain specialists and subject matter experts across AWS Products and Services for EAMM.

We lead customer obsessed go-to-market (GTM) strategies and solutions that turn AWS services into industry-leading, thriving businesses. We are a global team of domain experts who work backwards from customers to provide specialist expertise across the entire lifecycle of an AWS initiative, from developing PRFAQs for new services to accelerate the adoption of established business. We collaborate as #OneTeam with AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) to deliver results while innovating for customers by providing closed-loop feedback to AWS Service teams.

As a senior leader on the WWSO team, you will use your strong management skills and your experience selling technology solutions to coach, retain, and motivate a senior business development team that works with C-Level clients to transform their business. With each assignment, you will employ your dual strategic / tactical approach to determine short and long-term plans with a focus on increasing the team’s overall performance.

This team works in partnership with the global GFS sales team to accelerate the adoption of AWS cloud across services, solutions, workloads and AWS offerings.

This is a critical role reporting directly to the WWSO GFS Specialist leader, developing and implementing the business development plan in support of global sales organization and prioritization of specialist resource investments and customer adoption plans for current and future services.

This team leads field motions with deep domain expertise and also includes cross service C-level conversations with GFS leaders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Solid experience in selling, consulting, and building a high-growth business in Enterprise Application Migration and Modernization (Microsoft, VMWare, Mainframe, ERP, Containers, Serverless)

  • Extensive work background building and leading large teams in matrixed operating structures

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills with both technical and non-technical audiences, including working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross functional teams or equivalent

  • Experience in strategic thinking about business, enterprise software products, and new technology platforms and architectures for financial services industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with global financial services and/or insurance organizations selling and delivering large scale enterprise migration and modernization from data centers to cloud.

  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies, including public and hybrid cloud platforms.

  • Established track record of building rapport with customer executives (e.g. CEO, COO, CIO, CTO, CMO), building close relationships, and closing large revenue accounts, ideally across multiple industries.

  • Experience in a heavily matrixed sales environment, including developing, implementing, managing, and executing cross-functional solutions-led go-to-market growth initiatives and sales motion.

  • Technical background in engineering, computer science, or MIS a plus, and recognized Financial Services industry expertise in primary discipline(s) with proven public speaking and media prowess.
