OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION
Our market leading Structured Finance department is responsible for i) marketing, ii) originating and iii) structuring project finance transactions in the EMEA region across the Infrastructure, Energy and Natural Resources sectors.
As part of Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB), the responsibilities for the Structured Finance Office for EMEA (ESFO), include the structuring, financial and rating advisory and the execution of loans for our clients in the region. A particular strength of ESFO is financial advisory capability that has broadened in scope from advising on lending but now includes equity advisory capability and procurement advisory.
The strategy of the team is to increase this broadening of scope whilst expanding the geographical and sectoral focus in order to support clients whilst contributing to the broader GCIB strategies around FIs, Distribution and Cross Sell.
The Portfolio & Asset Management, team undertake a supporting role in the delivery of the Structured Finance products within Europe, Middle East and Africa.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bank entity responsibilities:
Effective monitoring and analysis of credit risks regarding the portfolio of assets under their direct control and recommendation of appropriate courses of action.
Deciding how best to engage with Borrowers and Banks with regards to undertaking the Bank’s Agency responsibilities.
Managing a wide variety of workflows within pre-agreed timescales / deadlines.
Maintaining the highest standards of credit risk / portfolio monitoring via ad hoc, semi-annual and annual credit reviews on a timely basis.
Dealing with client requests via related waivers / consents via Senior Management / London / Tokyo Credit functions.
Performing administrative functions in an efficient and responsive manner to manage legal and operational risks and to assist the overall efficiency of the unit and to enhance the Bank’s reputation externally.
Assisting with the smooth transfer of new assets from new business team members to Portfolio & Asset Management
Working with colleagues in Credit to ensure an effective dialogue on risk related issues and to maintain a culture of co-operation.
Identifying potential business opportunities from within the existing portfolio and assisting new business initiatives as required, including refinancing of existing assets.
Supporting Agency, Security Trustee and Account Bank activities.
Perform Agency role in efficient and responsive manner to avoid / manage legal and operational risks and enhance the bank’s reputation.
Developing and maintaining a strong network with the relationship teams, product areas and support functions within MUFG, in order to effectively grow and sustain the franchise.
Securities entity responsibilities:
Through collaboration with MUS (Securities) employees, facilitate the marketing and origination of transactions with your area of specialism in respect to the MUS product suite. The non-functional nature of this role means that you will not be able to transact (which means lead any structuring, credit, execution or commitment discussions) on behalf of any MUS legal entity; though through your role in Project Finance you will be able to share data and information, attend both internal and external meetings, offering up views and opinions. All recommendations and final decisions around structure, credit, pricing, execution and commitment must be made by a MUS employee or a functional dual-hat employee.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential:
Specific sector knowledge in project finance including Energy, Natural Resources & Infrastructure (PPP/PFI)
Training will be given for bespoke internal rating systems.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Functional / Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge of the various industries and asset classes within project finance, together with good corporate analysis skills with a broad understanding of cashflow models
Education / Qualifications:
Essential
- Degree level and / or relevant industry experience
