About the role
This newly created role follows the announcement of a new organisational setup for Gas Turbines (GT) in EMEA. As the EMEA Head of Engineering for Gas Turbines, you will be instrumental in driving our business success. You will divide your time between our UK and European sites, leading and managing the regional GT Parts Development and GT Repair Engineering Teams. Your strategic and tactical leadership will be crucial in implementing engineering strategies to maximise efficiency and drive excellence, ensuring we exceed customer expectations in product development, quality, cost, and delivery.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
Deliver engineering projects on time and within budget.
Lead the team to implement innovative products and repair solutions, positioning Sulzer as the premier independent gas turbine service provider.
Oversee the development of alternative parts (discs, blades, vanes, combustion wear), advanced repair specifications, and bespoke package designs.
Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, projects, operations, sales, and customers regarding technical support of their activities.
Become the technical representative of our business by creating and presenting technical papers at industry conferences and trade shows.
Create and maintain intellectual property within a controlled system environment.
Support workshops in troubleshooting repairs, overhauls, and maintenance.
Collaborate with the sales team to provide engineering expertise and secure new orders.
Propose new offers and repair methods to enhance speed, cost, and customer value.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
We are seeking an individual with a profound understanding of gas turbine design to provide exceptional maintenance solutions. The ideal candidate should have authored the manual, not just followed it, demonstrating deep technical expertise and innovative thinking. A proven career in gas turbine design engineering, with expertise in either/both heavy-duty and aeroderivative turbines, is essential.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields; relevant experience will also be considered.
Proven ability to manage and inspire an international team, with members spread across the UK and Europe.
Fluency in English.
Solution-driven mindset.
Valid driver’s licence and passport, with a willingness to travel (25%) for meetings within Europe, the US, and occasional global engagements.
