Overview The Utah Conservation Corps (UCC) Technical Coordinator (Program Assistant III) plans and coordinates the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operations for UCC's Northern Regional Office. The Technical Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to crews to ensure all field crew members are adequately trained and prepared to work in a safe environment. This position reports to UCC's Northern Regional Coordinator.

Responsibilities Responsibility Number: 1 Rank: 1 Percent: 35%

  • Provide technical, logistical, and administrative support to field crews.
  • Assists the Northern Regional Coordinator in the supervision of field crews stationed throughout the Intermountain West.
  • Oversees the day-to-day management of conservation projects.
  • Supports field crews with training, guidance, and constructive feedback.
  • Serves as a role model, resource, mediator, and advisor for field crews.
  • Ensures compliance with UCC, AmeriCorps, and USU policies, including enforcing disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Completes mid-term and final evaluations for all Field Logistics Technicians, Crew Leaders, and Crew Members.
  • Performs weekly check-in calls with field crews and approves member timesheets.
  • Supervises the rig-up (pre-hitch) and de-rig of crews (post-hitch).
  • Assists in securing lodging and accommodations for crews while on project hitches.
  • Coordinates with the Northern Regional Coordinator to support the on-call schedule and occasionally work weekends or nights. Responsibility Number: 2 Rank: 2 Percent: 25%

  • Assists the Northern Regional Coordinator with training and supervision of up to 180 seasonal AmeriCorps members include: Field Logistics Technicians, Crew Leaders, and Crew Members.

  • Oversees the herbicide application program including training, use, storage, and disposal.
  • Develop training courses such as:
  • Trail maintenance and construction
  • Proper tool use and maintenance
  • Pre- and post-project planning and organization
  • Chainsaw use and safety
  • Critical incident scenarios
  • Rig-up and de-rig procedures
  • Vehicle inspections and maintenance
  • Herbicide: use, storage, and disposal
  • Outdoor living skills including Leave No Trace
  • Food storage, meal preparation, and water purification
  • Interpersonal skills including leadership, conflict resolution and constructive feedback
  • Conducts regular risk management and policy audits which includes collecting and reporting data.
  • Purchases and maintains tools, equipment, gear, and first aid supplies including proper storage.
  • Manages inventory and develops equipment checkout systems.
