BioProduction supports developers and manufacturers of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines with a portfolio of premium solutions and services focused on upstream cell culture, downstream purification, analytics for detection and quantitation of process/product impurities, and a suite of single-use solutions spanning the biologics workflow. Single-Use Technologies: The Single-Use Technologies (SUT) business develops solutions used throughout the bioproduction workflow, from buffer and media preparation to bioreactor cultures for vaccines to the storage and shipping of intermediates and bulk biologics.

How will you make an impact?

The Mechanical Engineer role will be responsible for the engineering support and maintenance of single use bioprocess containers in the biotech and biopharmaceutical industries. This is a sustaining engineering position for existing single-use products like BioProcess Containers (BPCs), manifold assemblies, outer support containers, single-use fermentors, single-use bioreactors and single-use mixers. This role will reside in Logan, UT. This position has been approved for Relocation Assistance for the ideal candidate.

What will you do?

  • Support and maintain existing single-use and hardware product lines.

  • Develop design improvements and manufacturing improvements for existing products to better meet customer needs.

  • Design, qualify, and launch improvements as needed on existing products.

  • Project management of assigned tasks.

  • Interface with and provide support to R&D, process engineering, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, sales, and marketing groups.

  • Perform risk analysis.

  • Produce CAD solid models and conduct engineering analysis of components/ systems.

  • Responsible for component selection, specification, testing, and analysis.

  • Generation of specifications and documentation.

  • Create engineering test plans and qualification reports.

  • Travel as required to perform job functions (up to 25%).

How will you get here?

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Mechanical, manufacturing or materials with 7 years experience or MS Degree in engineering with 5 years experience

  • Plastics and/or hardware mechanical design experience required

  • SolidWorks CAD software or equivalent required

  • MS office programs required

  • Engineering design and analysis. Proficient at good engineering practices preferred

  • Plastics design experience and processing knowledge for the following: injection molding, extrusion, blow/cast films, and plastic welding preferred

  • Hardware design experience and knowledge of medical device manufacturing techniques preferred

  • Development of test plans and test protocols preferred

  • Experience in the medical device or biopharmaceutical industries preferred

  • Material selection for the medical device or biopharmaceutical industries preferred

  • Drawing generation, engineering standards, testing, and FMEAs highly desired

  • Software proficiency: MS office programs, CAD (Solidworks), FEA preferred

  • Project management highly desired

  • Data and statistical analysis software: Minitab highly desired
