Overview Utah State University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) invites applications for an academic-year, tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in Computer Engineering. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in computer networking. Additional desired areas of research and teaching expertise include, but are not limited to:
- Cybersecurity
- Hardware Security
- Cryptography
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence
- Cyber-Physical Systems
- Digital Design
- Embedded Systems The successful applicant will contribute significantly to both research and teaching efforts within the ECE department and across the broader university community.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications on October 15, 2024, and continue until the position is filled. For full consideration, applications should be submitted prior to that date. Possible start dates, coinciding with USU's semester schedule, are January 2025 and August 2025.
Responsibilities A tenure-track assistant professor is expected to develop and supervise a vibrant, externally-funded program of research and form inter-disciplinary collaborations with other faculty in the ECE Department and the university. The assistant professor is also expected to be an effective teacher at both the undergraduate and the graduate levels. The ideal candidate must be capable of obtaining externally-funded research, producing peer reviewed journal publications, recruiting and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, becoming an effective classroom teacher, and providing meaningful service to Utah State University, the citizens of Utah, and the profession.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. Doctoral candidates who will complete the PhD before the January/August 2025 start date are welcome to apply.
- The ability to conduct and disseminate research in areas related to computer engineering
- The ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in areas of computer engineering (software engineering; networking; cybersecurity; digital systems; and the candidate's specific area of research emphasis) in accordance with departmental needs
The ability to apply for, and secure, ongoing external funding Preferred Qualifications:
Industry/consulting experience
- Teaching experience in a university setting
