Position Title: Youth Career Coach Location: Livonia, MI (USA) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Category: Case Management Position Type: Full-Time (Regular) Annual Salary: $44,000
Position Overview

The Youth Career Coach will provide essential support and guidance to youth program participants, helping them acquire the education, life skills, and work experience needed to achieve their goals. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:
  • Assist in preparing reports on participation and placements as required.
  • Complete enrollment documentation accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with government officials to ensure all required documents are received.
  • Develop and implement solutions for attendance challenges among participants.
  • Deliver consistent and comprehensive case management and follow-up services.
  • Perform individualized assessments of participants' knowledge, behavior, and work skills.
  • Provide referrals to community service or social service agencies when appropriate.
  • Maintain an organized database and detailed records of all participant interactions.
  • Document all participant contacts and activities, ensuring post-placement follow-up as required by contracts.
  • Share relevant information with staff and funding agencies as necessary.
  • Ensure participant files comply with contractor specifications.
  • Establish professional, one-on-one working relationships with participants to help them overcome challenges related to employment. This includes assessment, individualized support, and coordination.
  • Ensure participants complete planned activities in line with funding agency contracts.
  • Assist in achieving contract-specific goals and positive outcomes for participants.
Program-Specific Tasks:
  • Recruit participants for the Jobs for Michigan's Graduates dropout recovery program.
  • Maintain detailed participant records in the database and oversee their engagement in required programming.
  • Coordinate with Business Services Representatives to place participants in Paid Work Experiences (PWE). Ensure timely submission of timesheets and evaluations. Maintain necessary documentation.
  • Facilitate solution-focused discussions to resolve conflicts between PWE participants and employers.
  • Collaborate with partner and community agencies for recruitment, training, and continuity of care.
  • Design and execute recruitment and informational activities in collaboration with the Youth Program Team.
  • Contribute to the creation of social media content and design printed promotional materials for various program areas.
  • Innovate programming to meet the evolving needs of participants.
  • Represent the program at speaking engagements, community events, partner meetings, and other engagements.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with youth, particularly in advising on education and career paths.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and document interactions with participants.
  • Excellent telephone, computer, and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust as contract requirements evolve.
  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Career coaching staff must obtain the Career Development Facilitator (CDF) certification within one year of hire.
