**Talascend is currently seeking a Foundry Worker for a contract opportunity in Livonia, Michigan
OVERVIEW:**
Foundry Workers are smart-working and ambitious who operate in a dynamic foundry environment. Foundry Workers will use computerized equipment to operate machinery throughout the foundry. You will be working in a team environment where safety is an absolute priority. Expect to train and work in every area of the foundry, gaining critical knowledge and work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute all work in a safe manner and contribute to a culture that promotes safety as its overriding priority
- Work with state-of-the-art machinery, including air set molding, mold coating and assembly, melt preparation, casting, break-out and shake-out, de-gate, and heat treatment
- Participate in ongoing inventory control activities including inventory management and analysis, serialization of molds, castings and the heat treatment process
- Possess physical stamina and coordination. Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to:
- Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Read and follow work instructions, operate machines, equipment, and tools, and perform quality checks
- Promptly detect and respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals
- Wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, respirators or face masks, ear plugs, and safety shoes
- Work in a loud foundry environment
- Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work
- Occasionally sit and climb stairs
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to follow manufacturing procedures methodically with attention to detail
- Eligible to work in the United StatesĀ
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekend and holidays on those shifts with little noticeĀ
PREFERRED:
- Prior work experience (1-3 years) in a sand-casting foundry preferred
- Working knowledge around molding, melt preparation, casting practices, and heat treatment
- Learning agility and enthusiasm towards training and working many different aspects of the foundry
