ROUSH CAE Supervisor - NVH & Durability in Livonia, Michigan

The NVH & Durability CAE Supervisor will provide technical direction & guidance to a subset of the CAE analysis team within the CAE department and will work on projects for large and small customers (internal and external) to meet specific customer requirements and timelines. This role will manage CAE analysts, review analysis files, results and assist with program quotes and customer interaction. The NVH & Durability CAE Supervisor will solve structural engineering problems to aid engineering in the upfront design of vehicle, defense, aerospace, and amusement park ride structures. The NVH & Durability CAE Supervisor is expected to support activities at our Livonia, Allen Park, and Troy offices in Michigan. As a NVH & Durability CAE Supervisor, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership in evaluating engineering concepts, trade-offs and risk assessment using analytical tools.

  • Guide the team in building CAE models for various applications in the automotive, defense, aerospace, and industrial segments using commercial software.

  • Independently perform review of analysis inputs, models and results. Conduct CAE analysis hands-on, as required.

  • Support analysis with sound engineering explanation and hand calculations.

  • Review results with Manager and share with the customer.

  • Interface with customer to complete tasks with a high level of quality while meeting timelines.

  • Enhance existing and develop new analyses capability as a part of continuous improvement.

  • Participate in proposal writing and technical sales along with participating in new graduate hiring process.

  • Maintain pertinent information in assigned location and perform data cleanup consistent with company's data retention and ISO policies.

  • Interact confidently and professionally with various audiences and stakeholders at all levels.

    Minimum qualifications to be considered:

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.

  • Minimum of 6 years of CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) experience in application of CAE tools in the upfront design of vehicle, defense, aerospace, and amusement park ride structures.

  • Experience in correlation, problem solving, troubleshooting and optimization analysis.

  • Experience in stress analysis, nonlinear analysis and durability assessment of metallic, composite and plastic assemblies or components.

  • Experience in modal, point mobility, acoustic analysis, mount tuning, full vehicle model analysis.

  • Strong aptitude in modeling and simulation with ability to solve brand new engineering problems.

  • Good understanding of kinematics, static, and dynamics.

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and leadership skills including ability to train and mentor junior analysts. Strong ability to have efficient technical discussions with specialists from customer engineering teams and effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong fundamental knowledge in strength of materials and failure theory for metals and composites and vibration concepts.

  • Advanced software skills in finite element pre-processors, solvers, and post-processors (Altair Hyperworks, ANSA & META, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, LSDYNA, OPTISTRUCT).

    A successful candidate may also have:

  • Master of Science in mechanical engineering, with 10 years of experience in the CAE domain including supervisory or leadership experience.

  • Engineering experience in Defense, Aerospace, or Entertainment industry specializing in structural dynamics, mechanics, durability, noise and vibration, survivability & shock analysis.

  • Experience with full vehicle ‘CAE to Test’ correlation, optimization, trade-off evaluations, suspension and powertrain integration.

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.

  • Experience with technical marketing of engineering services.
