HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Provides human resources guidance and support in the areas of recruitment, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, and safety for Ferrotec’s operations in Livermore, CA. Exercises discretion and independent judgment in dealing with a broad range of sensitive issues and confidential information. Uses various software platforms including UKG HRIS to create and maintain electronic files and administer benefit plans. Demonstrates strong ethical professionalism, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to promote excellent internal customer satisfaction. Presents a professional appearance and demeanor. This position is based in Livermore, CA, but may require occasional travel to San Jose, CA. Reports to Director of Human Resources.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information with strong ethical professionalism.

  • Provides courteous and timely assistance to employees.

  • Responsible to managing and administering Ferrotec’s worker’s compensation process.

  • Responsible for maintaining employee updates in HRIS and running reports.

  • Maintains electronic and paper-based personnel records in a confidential and secure manner.

  • Provides guidance and counsel to management regarding HR related issues including promotions and disciplinary actions.

  • Manage employee relations issues, investigations in partnership with HR Director.

  • Conducts new-hire orientations, onboarding and I9 process as well as termination process for exiting employees.

  • Calculates, reconciles, prepares and tracks check requests for payments due to employees under various policies and benefit plans.

  • Responsible for development and maintenance of Ferrotec job descriptions.

  • Prepares and distributes HR communications, announcements and notices of upcoming events.

  • Tracks employee training and obtains copies of certificates for inclusion in personnel files.

  • Manages LOA process with third party vendor. Leaves include STD, LTD, FMLA, Bereavement etc.

  • Maintains HR bulletin boards including up-to-date posting of legally required notices.

  • Partners with Safety team to prepares and posts, distributes, or submits various safety-related documents including the OSHA log.

  • Performs other human resources activities as requested.

  • May assist with recruitment activities. Ensuring that recruitment activities support the Affirmative Action Plan and satisfy federal requirements for subcontractors (e.g. posting new jobs on the CalJobs web site).

  • Responsible for immigration process in partnership with HR Director.

  • Coordinates and facilitates training and development activities.

  • Administers human resource policies and procedures. Provides interpretation and guidance to employees and managers as needed.

  • Ensures that the administration of policies and procedures complies with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations including but not limited to wage and hour laws, EEO, FMLA, ADA, and COBRA.

  • Makes recommendations to resolve identified problems and to improve human resources services, communications, and cost control.

  • Participates in the development and updating of human resources policies and procedures and maintenance of the employee handbook.

  • Research benchmark wage data and make recommendations for changes to the grade/range schedule.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources or related field plus business experience and capabilities as identified below:

  • 5-7 years related experience.

  • Deep understanding of HR best practices, ability to foster employee engagement, skill set to manage complex HR issues and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Computer literacy including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Working knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and regulations.

  • Ability to work independently under general supervision.

  • Ability to prioritize demands, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

  • Clear and effective writing skills.

  • Strong computational and analytical skills.

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • PHR certification

    PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: • Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. • Constantly communicating with others to exchange information. • Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. • Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned. • Occasional sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. • Prolonged use of computer monitors.
