The Carpet Cleaning Technician is responsible for maintaining, cleaning and restoring various types of flooring at different client facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring that floors are clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing. The Carpet Cleaning Technician needs to have strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and expertise in floor care techniques and equipment are essential for success in this role. The Carpet Cleaning Technician requires daily traveling to different locations and crossing state line depending on route.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Flooring:

  • Assess floor conditions and determine appropriate cleaning and maintenance procedures, this includes carpet/carpet spots, entry mats, ceramic tile, sheet vinyl, vinyl tile and wood floor.
  • Deep clean carpets using various methods, including hot water extraction with truck mount unit and bonnet cleaning.
  • Scrub and rinse hard surface floors such as ceramic tile, sheet vinyl, vinyl tile and hardwood, (including flush of floor drains)
  • Scrub all hall floors (where applicable) with auto scrubbing machine
  • Scrub and recoat all vinyl tile floors (1 coat of wax application required)
  • Extract all interior mats and pressure wash exterior door mats
  • Perform regular floor maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Follow proper safety procedures when using cleaning chemicals and operating equipment.
  • Maintain and perform basic maintenance on floor care equipment.
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules and complete tasks within specified timeframes.
  • Report any damages, safety hazards, or maintenance issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in commercial floor care or related field.
  • Experience operating various floor care equipment and machinery preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of floor care techniques for various surfaces (e.g., carpet, tile, hardwood, vinyl).
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between job sites as needed.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining floor care equipment such as buffers, burnishers, and extractors.
  • Ability to read and follow product labels and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Time management skills to complete tasks efficiently within scheduled timeframes.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with clients and team members.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds of equipment or supplies.
  • Physical stamina to operate heavy floor care equipment for several hours.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach frequently throughout the workday.
  • Manual dexterity to operate various tools and equipment.
  • Tolerance for exposure to cleaning chemicals and occasional loud noise from equipment.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
