Guidehouse's Life Sciences practice seeks an experienced business leader to partner with pre-commercial startups in biotechnology, pharma, and digital health to inform and support client commercialization objectives. An ideal candidate would bring strong experience developing and scaling businesses, building capabilities and teams around commercial ops for the GH Life Science Practice, with a demonstrated ability to engage with technology partners to deliver an end-to-end business and commercial transformation solution to clients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Independently lead engagements and work with the account lead to drive business development opportunities

  • Engage prospective clients and existing clients as a thought partner to drive and support the ideation, strategy, and development of their commercial functions, operations, go-to-market, and business models

  • Deliver content and subject matter expertise, industry best practices, in developing and standing up commercial organizations, functions, and resourcing

  • Inform the people, process, and technological requirements impacting commercial functions, propose and strategize commercialization options based on client and marketplace dynamics

  • Liaise across cross-functional partners, client executive and c-suite management, to drive consensus and decision making around commercial models and implementation plans

  • Develop, pilot, and standardize internal capabilities around commercial transformation and business scale-up

  • Support and lead business development activities, with a focus on building the commercial transformation capabilities for Guidehouse’s LS practice

  • Engage cross-practice at Guidehouse to leverage and expand existing internal capabilities and services into the commercial transformation service line

Associate Directors are responsible for managing projects from cultivation to completion and playing an important role in business development through cultivation of client relationships and developing client proposals with minimal oversight. In this role, you will lead the activities of the designated project team and support the day-to-day management of the client relationship. You will effectively develop and manage work plans, staffing, deadlines and budgets and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Your work products are high quality and client-ready. In this visible role, you’ll lead team meetings and guide, manage, and coach staff consultants, providing constructive feedback on their project participation and overall career development. You will also collaborate with Directors and Partners, keeping them abreast of project progress and important developments. You will also take part in sales initiatives and practice development. The Life Sciences practice encourages career development and hiring for the long term. Associate Directors follow a clearly defined career path. As you hone your sales, project management skills, ability to manage multiple work streams, professional expertise, and meet client and business development goals, you will progress to the next level, Director.

What You Will Need :

  • Minimum BS degree and advanced degree (MBA/MD/PhD/PharmD) desired

  • 7 plus total years of biotech industry experience

  • Experience working closely with the C-suite at biotechs with experience building and scaling commercial teams, and overseeing a diverse array of commercial functions

  • Strong commercial background across brand development, product development, marketing, product launch and go-to-market strategy and execution

  • Experience with an emerging company as it transitioned and scaled from an R&D to commercial organization

  • Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to address complex business questions

  • Demonstrated ability to play an integrator role and leading cross-functional team initiatives at the product and business level

  • Experience with understanding functional area requirements and preferably building functional capabilities

  • Experience developing and instituting agile organizational processes

  • Demonstrated success formally supervising, coaching and mentoring junior level staff including ownership and guidance of their career development

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

The annual salary range for this position is $136,100.00-$272,100.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
