UPMC Neurodiagnostic Technician I or Tech II in Lititz, Pennsylvania

UPMC is hiring a Casual, Neurodiagnostic Technician I or II to support Central PA hospitals.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title based on their experience and education

Looking to add an experienced Neurodiagnostic Technician to the team that is able to work independently.

Evening, overnight, weekend and holiday availability is required to support the hours of operation.

Will need to have availability to work up to 16 hours per week.

Travel is required is all 7 hospitals within the Central PA Region.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate computer equipment to record nervous system responses that provide quantitative and objective measures of the neuronal/sensory function.

  • Collaborate with supervisor and medical personnel to resolve problems and to advise concerning laboratory procedures, techniques and equipment.

  • Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance and repair on neurodiagnostic equipment to ensure proper functioning. Troubleshoot routine equipment problems.

  • Document pertinent medical history from the patient or family members.

  • React in medical emergencies to ensure patient safety; know unit and hospital procedures for working with high acuity patients.

  • Recognize changes in the clinical condition of the patient and correlate those changes with the EEG.

  • Discriminate the changes requiring intervention such as seizures or cardiac arrhythmia.

  • Schedule patients for neurodiagnostic procedures and obtain required medical information; explain procedures, alleviate fears, and elicit cooperation. Prepare patient for tests to include measuring and marking cranial area and fastening electrodes to specified positions on scalp and body.

  • Perform procedures with appropriate documentation.

  • Identify EEG waveforms/patterns during testing and communicate to medical personnel.

  • HS diploma and 6 months of patient care

  • OR an associate degree

  • OR a bachelor's degree

  • *Procirca Employees Only: This position includes a Neuro Training Agreement, which comes with a 3-year commitment to UPMC. Failure to agree and sign the Neuro Training Agreement contract prior to your start date will preclude you from further consideration for this position. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
