Navistar, Inc. Senior Quality-Reliability Engineer in Lisle, Illinois
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Quality-Reliability Engineer to support our transformation as we transition to the TRATON One PDP methodology.
This role will lead quality improvement efforts on Body, Exteriors, and HVAC systems across Navistar’s products. You will leverage your technical system expertise and combine it with problem solving techniques in support of issue resolution.
As part of the Product Quality Engineering group, you will collaborate with sister functions in Program Management and Infant Care teams to quickly solve problems and drive system performance.
Responsibilities
Supports Quality Management within assigned operational area (Body, Exteriors, and HVAC) by providing expertise and advice on production or product problems fed back from both internal and external customers
Manages large, complex data sets, focuses quality improvement investigations to reduce time to resolution
Analyzes trends in warranty data to support quality improvement projects, root cause investigations, cost reduction, production quality problems resolution, and warranty reduction and drive overall system improvements
Conducts investigations, analyses information, and facilitates teams dealing with issues/projects associated with resolution of quality problems
Promotes the use of disciplined problem-solving techniques to ensure root causes of issues are being identified and addressed
Complete reports and presentations to communicate findings, draw conclusions and give recommendations on next steps
Leads medium and heavy complexity projects with cross-functional teams in support of issue resolution within Red Arrow
Ensures issue communication and hand-off to Blue and Yellow arrow teams
Leads the System Management Review meeting to communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve assigned systems performance
Provides technical system support to the Early Warning call as needed for Medium/Heavy complexity issues.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
At least 8 years of Engineering and Reliability or Quality Assurance experience
At least 1 year of lead experience
OR
Master’s degree
At least 6 years of Engineering and Reliability or Quality Assurance experience
At least 1 year of lead experience
OR
At least 10 years of Engineering and Reliability or Quality Assurance experience
At least 1 year of lead experience
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
Experience with automotive/truck body/chassis systems or heavy equipment or aerospace/defense products
Proficient in root cause analysis and formal problem-solving techniques, ability to multi-task on multiple assignments
Knowledge of APQP tools
Strong leadership, organization, and presentation skills
Experience with Statistical and Reliability packages such as Minitab, Weibull Smith, Reliasoft, etc.
Proficiency in MS Excel data analysis with large complex data sets
Data analysis experience with Power BI or Tableau preferred
Lean Six Sigma training or certification preferred
SQL experience a definite plus
Statistical problem solving/ Red X experience a definite plus
Certified Reliability Engineer or Quality Engineer a plus
DFSS (Design for Six-Sigma) training or certification a plus
