Navistar is hiring highly motivated and enthusiastic entry-level mechanical engineers to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and researchers to play a crucial part in the design, development, and optimization of mechanical components and systems for vehicles that are integral to continuously improve the design and performances across all vehicle models.
Interviews will begin for this role in early October with projected start dates in January 2024 or June 2024, depending on projected graduation date.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to contribute to the design and development of mechanical components and systems for our vehicles.
Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed 3D models, schematics, and technical drawings.
Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs and ensure their functionality, safety, and performance.
Assist in the selection of materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to optimize the design and production process.
Participate in prototype fabrication, testing, and evaluation of mechanical systems to identify areas for improvement and refinement.
Contribute to design reviews and brainstorming sessions to generate innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacturing, addressing any issues that arise during the production process.
Continue your learning with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering and transportation.
Document design specifications, analysis results, and progress reports in an organized and comprehensive manner.
Follow established engineering standards and procedures while contributing fresh perspectives to enhance the team's capabilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
OR
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and will obtain degree prior to first day of employment

- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
