Description:
We are looking for a Sous-Chef to join our pre-opening team at Andaz Lisbon.
Expected to open in Q3 2025, Andaz Lisbon will offer guests an exciting new luxury lifestyle hotel in the Portuguese capital – and it will represent a key milestone in Hyatt’s continued brand growth in Southern Europe. Andaz Lisbon is set to become the second Hyatt-branded hotel in Lisbon. Located in the center of Lisbon’s bustling Baixa district and situated along the main pedestrian road, Rua Augusta, the hotel will be comprised of five separate buildings, including the former offices of one of the major banks in Portugal, Banco Português de Investimento (BPI). This central building of the hotel will offer 170 guestrooms, with the surrounding four satellite buildings of the hotel offering guests various private suites to choose from. This unique Urban Resort in the city center will allow guests to fully embrace the locale and experience authentic Lisbon.
About the role
The Sous-Chef is to manage a specific department and work with the Executive Chef to create, implement and maintain quality standards. The ideal Sous Chef will accomplish their tasks by monitoring the daily functions of the culinary department, including providing support and guidance to the culinary team, ending in a positive guest experience.Is responsible for assisting in food planning, preparation, and production that is used for the outlets. Assists the Executive Chef in menu development, food specifications, recipes, and supervising Chef de Partie and Commis. Monitoring food and labour budgets for the department, and maintains the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards.

In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations
Possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills
Experience with training, basic financial management and customer service
Proficient in general computer knowledge
A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast paced customer service environment
Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
Strong training and communication skills
Culinary education and/or on the job training, hotel experience preferred
Ability to create innovative and seasonal menus
Experience in leading, training, and motivating a kitchen team.
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Strong planning and organizational skills to run a streamlined operation
Problem-solving ability, to resolve issues as they arise
