Job Description

Job Summary:

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, implement HSE policies and procedures, and promote a culture of safety within the hydraulic manufacturing facility.

1. Policy Development and Implementation

2. Assist in the development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and programs specific to hydraulic manufacturing operations.

3. Conduct regular reviews of policies to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.

4. Risk Assessment and Management

5. Identify potential hazards associated with hydraulic manufacturing processes (e.g., high-pressure systems, hydraulic fluids, heavy machinery).

6. Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate risks.

7. Compliance and Audits

8. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.

9. Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections of machinery, processes, and workplace conditions.

10. Reporting and Documentation

11. Maintain accurate records of HSE incidents, training, audits, and inspections.

12. Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.

13. Training and Awareness

14. Provide HSE training to employees, including safe handling of hydraulic equipment, chemical safety, and emergency response.

15. Promote a culture of safety through regular communication and awareness campaigns.

16. Incident Investigation

17. Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents.

18. Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

19. Emergency Preparedness

20. Assist in development and maintenance of emergency response plans for scenarios such as chemical spills, fires, and machinery malfunctions.

21. Conduct regular drills to ensure readiness.

22. Coordinate with waste management contractor

23. Environmental Management

24. Monitor and handle waste disposal, emissions, and spill prevention in line with environmental regulations.

25. Promote sustainable practices in the facility.

26. Equipment Safety

27. Ensure that all hydraulic equipment and machinery are maintained and operated safely.

28. Oversee the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce its proper use.

29. Continuous Improvemen t

30. Identify opportunities to improve HSE performance.

31. Implement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work Environment:

• Exposure to a manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, hydraulic systems, and potentially hazardous substances.

• May require occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and wearing PPE.

• This position combines hands-on technical analysis and administrative tasks

• Time will be spent among office, production floor, and lab areas. A large majority of time may be spent working on the production floor

• Work closely with managers, supervisors, office staff and plant personnel

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, preferred or 8 years of commensurate experience in lieu of the degree

• 2-4 years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental role, ideally in manufacturing or a similar industrial setting.

• Certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or ISO14001 & 45001 are highly desirable.

• Good speaking, reading and writing, in English, Spanish a plus.

• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and associated risks is preferred

• Understanding of HSE laws, regulations, and best practices.

• Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, and emergency response planning.

Additional Information

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $70k- $80k. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. The Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range during the interview process.
