As a Structural Technician, you will:

  • Inspect, clean, and perform preventative maintenance of assigned spaces and equipment, identify and repair any potential problems
  • Assist with structural and carpentry tasks and projects such as wall erection, drywall, ceilings, door and window installation, and wall and floor coverings
  • Maintain and repair of general structural components
  • Hang pictures, whiteboards, shelving, and other objects at the requests of various departments
  • Safely use and maintain tools and machinery
  • Complete work orders and utilize an electronic timekeeping system daily.

What you bring to the position (minimum qualifications):

  • High school or equivalent education.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in trade processes, procedures, and codes.
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience with operating tools and machinery.
  • Understanding of building and construction principles.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good analytical thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications and comprehend instructions.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. and work from ladders/aerial equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and eligible to operate University vehicles.

Building Systems Maintenance has three levels of Structural Technician, which are determined by a candidates knowledge, skills, and abilities..

All levels will be assigned to a rotating on-call schedule and urgent situations occasionally require after-hours work.
