Job Description

Teledyne CETAC products and services are used in every industry where rapid and accurate determination of elemental trace levels are required. Major industrial segments benefiting from our product-based solutions include semiconductor manufacturing, environmental analysis, and petrochemical manufacturing. We develop, manufacture, and market a family of products and services that provide essential solutions to customers around the globe.

We are taking applications for a Sustaining Electrical Engineer to join our team.

Summary:

Responsible for the sustaining engineering (http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/engineering.html) , the technical support (http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/technical-support.html) of released products, and the release of new products through the fast prototype team . Sustaining engineering tasks entail product improvements, product cost reductions, component obsolescence, and maintaining product regulatory & safety compliance. Technical support tasks include production line support, customer service support, and purchasing support. Fast prototype tasks include research and design engineering of electronics and firmware.

Responsibilities:

  • Research potential alternate electronic components.

  • Schematic design and maintenance.

  • Printed circuit board layout and maintenance.

  • Embedded firmware design and maintenance.

  • Participate in schematic, PCB, and firmware design reviews.

  • Design and maintenance of functional and burn-in testing scripts.

  • Maintain regulatory & safety compliance for released products.

  • Identify and implement improvements and cost saving measures for released products.

  • Participate in multidepartment product line quality meetings.

  • Exhibit professional conduct with a high level of integrity.

  • Apply sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with analog and digital electronics circuit design.

  • Experience working with schematics and printed circuit board layout software; Altium preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of electronic sensors and controls.

  • Knowledge of system interfaces and protocols.

  • Proactive mindset with strong sense of responsibility and ownership.

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems while applying planning and organizational methods.

  • Ability to drive change, and to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects.

  • A practical understanding of standard engineering and documentation processes.

  • Experience with microcontroller/microprocessor firmware creation, or similar experience including familiarity with the C programming language.

  • Knowledge of stepper motors and mechanical drive systems.

  • Knowledge of IEC safety and emissions standards.

  • Experience with soldering and de-soldering.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues, vendors, and customers.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EE, EET, or CE from a four-year college or university.

  • 2-5 years experience.

  • Other engineering or science degree considered with strong experience in, and emphasis on, electronics design and electro-mechanical systems.

Travel:

5-10% Expected
