As a Sr. Business Systems Analyst supporting General Dynamics Mission Systems, you will be trusted to work with an IT consulting firm to implement industry best practices IT governance processes and framework to improve the efficiency and quality of IT services delivery.

The Business Systems Analyst role is a blend of traditional Business Analyst and Systems Analyst disciplines. They use their technical expertise to consult and collaborate with business leaders, IT staff, and other third parties to develop, deliver, and optimize business capabilities & information technology systems. They often act as integrated team leads and facilitate small projects or initiatives. In this role, a typical day will include the responsibilities below:

  • Solicits and captures desired business outcomes, future strategies, demands, actions, and plans

  • Understands organizations, information, systems, policies, processes, metrics, opportunities, challenges, risks, and constraints

  • Investigates and supports evaluation of alternatives for, and feasibility of, improvements in information, technology, process, and/or organizational systems

  • Supports development of recommendations and business case rationales for investment in new or enhanced solutions

  • Investigates, identifies, analyzes, and captures business systems, processes, information, and other forms of detailed specifications & requirements

  • Supports the development and delivery of solutions

  • Translates business requirements to technical specifications and interface with other technical staff to design, develop, and maintain solution

  • Executes unit, integration and acceptance testing

  • Partners with business end-user community and IT staff to refine, tune, train, promote adoption and optimize environment

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures

  • Follow industry trends and pursue technology innovation to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are cost competitive and superior to industry best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Education and/or relevant experience –Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years as a Business Systems Analyst

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or System Analyst role

  • Evidence of ability to follow detailed task direction and instructions on tasks of limited scope having a good understanding of the Business Systems Analysis discipline

  • Demonstrate personally accountable behavior and shows initiative and enthusiasm on assignments

  • Jira, Confluence, and/or similar applications

  • Good communication skills

  • Lean-Agile mindset good ability to understand and become familiar with the Lean-Agile mindset

  • Lean-Agile principles and practices (includes DevSecOps, Scrum, SAFe, and Kanban) ability to become familiar with the Lean-Agile principles and practices (includes DevSecOps)

  • Enterprise Architecture or GRC Experience Desired

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Certification

  • Must be able to obtain Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualification

  • CSM certification

  • Knowledge of Appian workflow
