The Role:

As the Strategic Account Manager for ROI, you will report into the Head of Region, and your primary role is to maintain and enhance win-win relationships with selected brokers and business partners. You will work with them to grow at scale and optimise the engineering insurance business underwriting profit result.

The Strategic Account Manager will play a leading role in supporting national deals and business arrangements in partnership with the Head of Broker Distribution and Underwriting Manager to implement the company strategy across the product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strategic long-term relationships, proactive relationship management including action planning, monitoring of broker accounts and prospective clients

  • Working alongside Head of Broker Distribution to prepare individual broker business plans and growth and profitability targets

  • Identify opportunities to grow business with brokers and maintain a robust pipeline

  • Partner with Development Underwriters to convert pipeline into new business and secure renewal of existing business.

  • Achieve growth and profitability across the portfolio in line with Corporate Targets.

  • Negotiation of key new business opportunities and renewal of existing key accounts.

  • Review own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets.

  • Maintain accurate records within CRM systems (Dynamics 365), populating with all client interactions and activities to enable and support future opportunities and pro-active cross-segment working.

  • Accurate and timely sales forecasting and reporting

  • Strategic planning

  • Support Partnership arrangements where required

Key Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Strong sales & trading acumen – commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build trusted broker relationships

  • Customer relationship management

  • Understanding of ROI Insurance market

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Internal stakeholder management

  • Business planning & prioritisation

Desirable

  • Market presence & relationships

  • Understanding of commercial insurance governance and controls

  • Experience of Engineering Insurance & Inspection Services preferred

Qualifications & Educational Requirements:

  • ACII Desirable

  • CIP Minimum (up to date 15 hours CPD)
