Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Ashland Inc. Intermediates, business at our Lima, Ohio plant. This is a very significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. This position will report to the operations manager.

 

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participant in plant safety program and performs all tasks in a safe manner.
  • Monitors process conditions and reports on deviations and opportunities.
  • Recommends operation improvements based on data collection and analysis.
  • Develops and implements small and medium capital projects (up to $1MM)
  • Executes capital projects safely, on budget, and on schedule.
  • Studies catalyst performance and recommends actions to improve performance.
  • Leads and participates in unit HAZOP studies.
  • Supports maintenance personnel with engineering calculations.
  • Participates in the plant MOC process as an initiator and in a tech support role.
  • Assists in setting yield and product availability forecasts.

     

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of chemical plant manufacturing experience.
  • Well versed in chemical process manufacturing, environmental compliance standards, engineering and project standards, Management of Change, budget preparation and cost control, strong IT skills, organizational effectiveness, and people management.
  • Ability to lead and manage others effectively, be an effective communicator and can interface well with employees at all levels, especially with members of sites Leadership Team as well as corporate management.
  • Proven strong business acumen and ability to manage multiple priorities and constantly changing business priorities.
  • Always demonstrate responsible and ethical behavior.
  • Drive the company to a greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions, and creating the new and different.
  • Able to respond appropriately during site emergencies as directed by the Site Emergency Manager.
  • Capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency arise.
  • Be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit within the manufacturing process area, including hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being performed.
  • Ability to walk extensively, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, lift 25 lbs., or reach depending on work activity required. Work is performed in an office/plant environment with frequent trips to the operating areas to formulate plans, inspect equipment or processes and collect data.
  • Training required to perform the job properly and may require this position to travel occasionally around the United States.
  • A valid drivers license to operate plant vehicles.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
