Special Testing Technician

Description
Electrically test high voltage capacitors according to engineering specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
Electrically test capacitors using LCR, IR, and LC meters
Capacitor voltage testing, AC and DC
Set up and perform thermal shock and burn-in tests
Set up and perform pulse testing of capacitors
Ability to use an oscilloscope to measure waveforms for voltage, frequency and current
Ability to use Function Generators to create waveforms for testing
Ability to set up complex testing involving inverters and resonant frequency circuits
Performs mechanical tests of capacitors for dimension accuracy
Ability to understand concepts and perform tests related to Partial Discharge {Corona}
Works with Engineering staff to solve issues with capacitor testing
Ability to read and follow advanced test procedures including military standards
Ability to write technical reports including charts, graphs, and schematics to document test results
Set up data loggers to measure pressure transducers, probes, sensors and functional tests
Modifies and/or repairs circuitry, components and record effects on unit performance utilizing methods such as soldering and operating small hand tools to repair units; ensure compliance with standards
Ensures efficient operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; repairing equipment; setting up repairs with outside service providers; evaluating new equipment and techniques
Ability to adhere to the highest standard of quality while continually performing at the highest level possible
Supervise lower-level test team members while also actively participating in the completion of tasks
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Associate of Science in Electrical/Electronic Technology (ASEE/ASEET) or three to six months of related experience and/or training preferred
Ability to read and comprehend oral and written instructions and other manufacturing documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with managers and co-workers
Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and additional test specific software
Ability to read schematics and test specifications
Ability to define basic/routine problems, evaluate and establish facts and seek solutions to problems
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written and oral instructions

Mathematical:
Will be converting between SAE and Metric measurements
Will need a strong familiarity of converting between engineering prefixes (i.e. milli, micro(µ), etc.)
Work Environment:
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and the potential of electrical shocks
Occasionally exposed to exterior temperature conditions-heat in the summer, cold in the winter
Regularly exposed to loud noise

One element in our total compensation package is pay. The starting pay for this role is $20.00 per hour.
